The brief

Having worked with Optima for a kitchen in their previous home, the Johnston’s knew exactly where to go when looking to design their new kitchen and utility space in their new family home. They were looking for a fresh, yet traditional style to compliment the look and feel of the rest of their home.

The solution

The design features an L shape tall bank and sink run utilising the solid wood Mornington Shaker door in Dove Grey with Grey Bardolino Oak carcase, that houses a suite of Neff cooking appliances.  The island utilising the same Mornington Shaker in Hartforth Blue, injects colour into the space with a bold contrast.

The two-tone Shaker colour scheme creates a traditional look with a contemporary twist. The complementary combination of colours and highly durable quartz worktops creates a luxurious, long-lasting and affordable design solution.

The clever use of Dove Grey furniture is complimented by natural light that floods through the nearby patio doors, creating a bright and airy atmosphere.  Subtle mood lighting above the plinth creates a floating effect and paired with lighting incorporated into the ceiling canopy that mirrors the shape of the island creates a warm and welcoming atmosphere in the evenings.

The large island with a lowered breakfast bar offers a spacious work surface and a relaxed family dining space. The utility space features a large sink to make bathing the family dog a breeze.
